      American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute Partners with Pearson to Distribute Educational Content to Industry Marketplace

      New York, NY—April 16, 2012—The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI) and Pearson announced today that they have signed an exclusive agreement to make Pearson the exclusive academic distribution partner for a number of EI programs, credentialing exams, and training materials, including the Skills Tasks and Results Training (START) and Lodging Management Program (LMP) in the US market.

      The Educational Institute is a 59-year-old, independent, nonprofit subsidiary of the American Hotel & Lodging Association. It creates employee training materials for the hospitality industry, publishes and distributes textbooks used for hospitality programs in high schools and universities, and is widely recognized as the preeminent leader in hospitality certification.

      The START program provides high school students and people re-entering the workforce training for hospitality positions in the rooms and food and beverage divisions of a lodging operation, including front desk, reservations, housekeeping, bell services, restaurant service, and banquet setup.

      The Lodging Management Program provides 11th and 12th grade students the classroom learning and real-life experience they’ll need to be prepared for a career in the lodging industry.

      In addition, the agreement includes distribution of 29 higher education titles covering the wide range of topics necessary to succeed in the hotel and lodging industry. Each title contains an answer sheet that enables students to receive EI certificates upon successful completion of the EI-graded final exam.
